OUR IMPACT

OUR PROGRAMMES

Vita Green Impact Fund

The Vita Green Impact Fund (VGIF) provides sustainable forestry, safe water and cleaner, fuel efficient cookstoves to women and their families in East Africa.

The programme has unique features that amplify its impact, sustainability and scalability.

  • A community-led methodology that ensures communities are driving their own development and all households benefit equally.
  • A circular carbon finance model that ensures communities not only benefit from the programmes but also share in the profits of the Fund.

A blended finance model that draws impact investment and new money into development. Read more here.

Climate Smart Agriculture

Its important that we address the twin challenges of food insecurity and climate change in an integrated way. The communities we partner with in East Africa are among the most affected by the climate crisis, despite contributing the least to global emissions.

Our climate-smart agriculture initiatives deliver one million tonnes of food across the region annually by strengthening the whole food production value chain. This transitions rural farmers from subsistence to thriving farming enterprises. Our model protects and promotes local natural resources.

Our ambition is to empower these communities to adapt to climate challenges, improve agricultural productivity and boost incomes so they can thrive in their own homes and their own communities. Learn more about our programme below.

TRIBUTE TO A GREAT FRIEND – DR. KAMAL KAL

We in Vita Impact are devastated to learn of the passing of our great friend and collaborator, Dr Kamal Kar of the CLTS Foundation. Dr Kamal was a remarkable person whose vision, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to community-led development transformed countless lives across the world. For all of us in Vita Impact it was both an honour and a privilege to work alongside him and learn from his extraordinary insight, humility and passion for empowering communities. His loss will be felt by many.

May he rest in peace, and may his family, friends and colleagues find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
