Job Description: Financial & Project accountant – Reporting to the Head of Finance & Administration.

We are looking for an experienced accountant to fill this full-time position within Vita. This is an exciting role which requires the successful candidate to work in the accounts’ function on many different levels.
Summary of Role
Day to Day accounts:
- Prepare payments runs ensuring the correct authorisations are in place, procurement processes/policies complied with on payments.
- Process Bank payments Irish & International payments through Banking Online.
- Assist in preparation of funding to countries.
- Input the AIQ Dublin transactions.
Programme accounting:
- Point of contact between Finance & Programmes Team for donor allocations
- Assist Ethiopia with reporting requirements to donors & programme managers.
- Work closely with the Ethiopian & Eritrean accounts teams to ensure accurate & timely reporting.
- Check & verify the monthly/quarterly programme reports.
- Monitor budget versus expenditure & highlight areas early.
Financial Systems:
- AIQ – set up BI coding & dimensions.
- Allocate BI codes to donors where required.
- AIQ support/mentorship for the Ethiopian Team
Banking:
- Dublin – bank reconciliation on AIQ
- Cashflow management between the bank accounts
Financial reporting:
- Maintain the Intercompany balance with Ethiopia.
- Assist with the annual Audit preparation.
Other
- Assist with the annual budget preparation.
- Act as Secretary to the Audit Risk & Finance Committee
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
Requirements:
- A qualified accountant with at least three years post qualification experience
- Knowledge of project accounting as well as financial & management accounts
- Experience of non-profit accounting and ideally also in international development
- Experience of the whole accounting function from data entry to consolidated accounts to statutory audit
- Knowledge of accounting packages – essential; AIQ (desirable)
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task in a fascinating and varied role
- Team player with ability to work in a small team
- Passion for international development
- Warmth and humour with good communications skills
