We are looking to recruit an experienced international development professional to provide oversight and guidance to our  programme in Ethiopia. Based from Vita’s office in Dublin, the Country Programme Lead Ethiopia is the point person for the Ethiopia programme in Ireland and has a close working relationship with programme staff in the Ethiopia country office.

This role will suit a candidate with experience in project coordination, programme quality, budget monitoring and relationship management. This is an excellent career development opportunity. Overseas travel expected.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Vita CEO, you will be joining a small but energetic team with a strong sense of purpose. Responsibilities will include:

  • Support Vita’s strategic programme initiatives in Ethiopia
  • Manage reporting linkages between Ethiopia country programmes and Dublin HQ
  • Support the local adaptation and application of the Vita Programme Quality Framework across the country portfolio.
  • Promote impact-focused monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes in-country by contributing to the design of log frames, indicators, reporting templates, Project Cycle Management timelines etc. across all programmes.
  • Coordinate and supervise relationships and compliance with institutional donors, where appropriate
  • Advise on ‘go/no go’ decisions for grant and microgrant opportunities (as per ‘go/no go’ checklist).
  • Advise, contribute to or lead on programme design and proposal development for funding opportunities, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the preparation of Vita Ethiopia’s annual budget and business plan.
  • Monitor expenditure and monthly cashflow transfers.

 

Skills you will bring:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an international development NGO or similar organization
  • Educated to degree level, ideally in a development-related field.
  • Excellent understanding of international development and climate justice issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Strong financial ability and understanding
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience and knowledge of donor requirements
  • Be able to work on your own initiative.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role an advantage
  • Experience working in developing country with understanding and respect for local customs an advantage.
  • Proven teamwork and leadership skills as well as excellent communications skills

This is a fixed-term  contract to provide maternity leave cover. It is a full-time position based in Dublin with hybrid working options available.

The selected candidate will be required to travel to Ethiopia 2-3 times during the year.
